Answers to the questions we hear most. Can’t find what you need? Email support@familymaxxing.appand we’ll get back within two business days.

Getting started

How do I sign up?

Download Familymaxxing from the App Store or Google Play, then sign in with Apple, Google, or an email address. You’ll be asked to pick a handle and optionally upload an avatar.

Does it cost anything?

Familymaxxing is free to try with a small group. Larger groups and additional features are part of a paid plan. You can see the current plan and limits inside Settings → Subscription.

Groups & invites

How do I create a group?

Tap the + button on the home screen and choose New group. Pick a name, emoji, start and end date, and whether the group has a money pool. You become the group admin.

How do people join?

Every group has an invite code. Share it from Group → Members → Invite. Anyone with the code can preview the group (name, emoji, dates) before joining.

Can I leave a group?

Yes. Open the group, tap Members, then Withdraw. If the group has a money pool, leaving before settlement may forfeit your stake — check with the group admin first.

Goals & check-ins

How do I set my goal?

Inside a group, tap Goaland choose a metric, target, and unit (for example “run 30 km per week”). You can update your goal any time before the group starts.

What’s the difference between a quick-log and a post?

A quick-log is a number with a unit, entered in seconds — use it for routine progress. A post is a photo plus an optional caption — use it to celebrate a milestone or show proof.

I made a mistake on a check-in.

Tap your check-in and choose Delete, then re-enter the correct value. Deletions update the leaderboard immediately.

Money pools & settlements

Does Familymaxxing hold the money?

No. Familymaxxing never holds, escrows, or transmits funds. When a group uses a money pool, we compute the leaderboard and suggest a split, but payments happen between members off-platform (bank transfer, Venmo, etc.).

How is the settlement calculated?

At the end date, each member’s score is ranked against the group goal. The app proposes a split based on the group’s scoring and pool mode. The admin can confirm or adjust it before sending.

What if someone doesn’t pay?

Familymaxxing doesn’t enforce payment — the honour of the group does. Each member marks their payment as sent or received in the app so everyone can see the status.

Notifications

I’m getting too many notifications.

Open Settings → Notifications. You can toggle each type independently: check-in reminders, new messages, new check-ins in a group, mentions, settlement-ready, and milestones.

I’m not getting notifications at all.

Make sure notifications are enabled for Familymaxxing in your device settings, then reopen the app — we refresh your push token on launch. If they still don’t arrive, email support@familymaxxing.app with your handle and device model.

Account & data

How do I change my handle or avatar?

Tap Profile → Edit. Your new handle is visible to group members immediately.

How do I delete my account?

Follow the steps on the delete account page. We action deletion requests within 30 days.

Where is my data stored and how is it protected?

See the privacy policy for the full breakdown. For anything privacy-specific, email privacy@familymaxxing.app.
